Long Island Tutoring and Enrichment
The SSAT is designed for students who are seeking entrance to private and independent schools worldwide.
There are 3 levels:
Elementary Level SSAT (Admission for Grades 4 & 5)
Middle Level SSAT (Admission for Grades 6-8)
Upper Level SSAT (Admission for Grades 9-12)
At LITE, we tutor students for the Upper Level SSAT, which is the test for students in Grades 8-11 and measures students' verbal, quantitative, and reasoning skills.
The Knox School (St. James)
Friends Academy (Locust Valley)
Portledge School (Locust Valley)
The Stony Brook School (Stony Brook)
Choate Rosemary Hall (CT)
Hotchkiss School (CT)
Lawrenceville School (NJ)
Taft School (CT)
The student takes a diagnostic SSAT so that the tutor can address his/her strengths and weaknesses and modify the curriculum accordingly. Our tutors cover all the material on the SSAT, including math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, verbal reasoning, and writing.
LITE administers timed, proctored practice SSAT exams so that students can apply the rules, techniques, and concepts that they have learned in session. Students learn to manage their time efficiently so that they finish the exam in the time allotted and have stamina throughout the test.
The SSAT is administered 8 times throughout the school year, from September to June. Each student's program start time is different, depending on when he/she plans to take the exam. Students should start tutoring at least 3 months before the first official test date.
