NYS Regents exams measure a student's achievement in specific high school-level courses. In order to graduate from high school, students must pass 5 Regents exams in the following subject areas: English Language Arts, math, science, social studies, and any additional Regents exam approved by the State.
Students can take a Regents exam anytime during their high school career after they have completed the needed coursework. Students may also earn an Advanced Regents diploma if they pass certain additional Regents exams in math and science, as well as any NYC Language Other Than English exam.
The first step is for the student to take a diagnostic Regents exam so that the tutor can assess the student's strengths and weaknesses and modify the curriculum accordingly. Through one-on-one tutoring, LITE tutors customize the curriculum to meet the needs of each student. Whether a student needs intense remediation or a bridge to prevent learning loss, LITE helps learners of all abilities become stronger, more confident students.
The student begins the Summer Bridge Program in July and meets with the tutor weekly or bi-weekly. Each session is one hour. The Summer Bridge Program is an excellent option for students who want to prevent summer learning loss so that they close learning gaps and perform at higher levels during the upcoming school year.
The student begins the Full-Year Program in September and meets with the tutor weekly or bi-weekly. Each session is one hour. The tutor addresses all content areas ranging from basic ideas to advanced concepts. As the official exam approaches, the student will then begin to take timed, proctored practice Regents exams in preparation for the official exam.
The student begins the Partial Program in late winter/early spring and meets with the tutor weekly. Each session is one hour. The tutor addresses the student's areas of weakness and works to improve the student's proficiency and achievement. As the official exam approaches, the student will then begin to take timed, proctored practice Regents exams in preparation for the official exam.
