The CHSEE (commonly referred to as "cheese") stands for the Catholic High School Entrance Exam. It is a challenging test that all 8th graders applying to the 9 Catholic high schools on Long Island must complete.
For students planning to attend Catholic high school in September 2021, they must take the CHSEE offered in October 2020.

At LITE, students work one-on-one with their tutors in our Plainview center. Our NYS-certified teachers cover all the material that is addressed on the exam, specifically math, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, spelling, analogies, and word usage. Students have weekly quizzes and homework assignments to complete.
LITE administers timed, proctored practice CHSEE tests so that students can both apply what they have learned in session and adjust their timing, so they can complete the test in the time allotted.
Our CHSEE tutoring program is a rigorous one, and we require dedication, hard work, and consistency from each of our students. It is this discipline that not only helps students excel on the Catholic High School Entrance Exam, but also establishes confidence and time management skills that carry over into their schoolwork.
In mid-summer/early fall, the student takes a CHSEE diagnostic test so that the tutor can assess his/her strengths and weaknesses and manage the curriculum accordingly. Following the diagnostic test, the student meets with the tutor once a week for 1 hour until he/she is ready to take practice tests. At that point, the students continues to cover the curriculum and reviews practice tests with his/her tutor. The program is designed to prepare our 8th graders for the October 2020 exam.
Each of our students gains acceptance to a prestigious Long Island Catholic high school. In fact, many LITE students receive scholarship money and/or are placed in advanced classes in freshman year, based solely on their excellent CHSEE score.
The non-refundable registration fee covers all materials and practice tests throughout the program.
